HighScope Method
The HighScope Preschool Curriculum is based on more than 50 years of research on early childhood development and has been validated through a direct evaluation of the curriculum.
The HighScope Curriculum includes learning objectives, effective adult-child interaction strategies, resources to support teachers with setting up the learning environment, and individualizing their lesson plans to ensure a high-quality experience for all learners. It is organized into 11 content areas that outline the experiences essential for the development of the fundamental abilities in early childhood development.

Classroom Assessment

In the HighScope classroom, teachers inspire children's curiosity and enthusiasm for learning by fostering an environment that encourages them to explore materials and engage with both peers and adults. Our focus is empowering young learners to make decisions, build academic and social skills, develop emotionally, and become an integral member of the classroom community.

The Active Learning Model
Teachers and caregivers can best know, understand, and support each child in their care through close attention, observation, and both physical and verbal interaction.

Adult Child Interaction
As Partners, teachers work alongside the children, communicate verbally and nonverbally to encourage learning. Teachers use encouragement instead of praise, scaffold their play, and allowing children to problem solve on their own to reach resolutions in conflicts.
Learning Environment
Teachers create a learning environment that is both inviting and interactive. Teachers arrange the classroom with diverse, open-ended materials that reflect children's home, culture, and language. The room is organized and labeled to promote independence and encourage children to be able to carry out their own intentions.

Daily Routine
Routines are vital in development. Children engage in both individual and social play, participate in small- and large-group activities, assist with cleanup, socialize during meals, develop self-care skills, and exercise their small and large muscles. The most important segment of the daily routine is the plan-do-review sequence, in which children make decisions about what they will do, carry out their ideas, and reflect upon their activities with adults and other children.
INFANT- TODLLER CURRICULUM
The content of the HighScope Infant-Toddler Curriculum is organized around
six areas that frame the timely and appropriate experiences that promote
learning in all domains of development.
Learning is focused on six content areas:

The HighScope Infant-Toddler curriculum provides a composite picture of what very young children do and what knowledge and abilities emerge from their actions. Teachers and caregivers can best know, understand, and support each child in their care through close attention, observation, and both physical and verbal interaction.
Preschool Curriculum
The HighScope Preschool Curriculum is organized around eight content areas that outline the experiences essential for the
development of the fundamental abilities that emerge during early childhood. These are the basic concepts and skills that young children naturally use repeatedly, given the opportunity.

Family Engagement
The HighScope Curriculum is rooted in building trusting, authentic partnerships with parents to promote optimal learning and development for young children. One of the principal goals is to support parents as they help children learn.
Child Assessment:
HighScope focuses on early childhood assessment because it paints an accurate picture of children’s development and learning.
Classroom Assessment:
We use tools to identify structural characteristics and dynamic relationships that best promote the development of young children.
We focus on helping educators implement effective learning environments.
